One can be printed. One cannot.
There will only ever be twenty-one million: a ruler the printing press can never stretch. Everything else is measured against it.

Everyday prices
A value combo that ran a few dollars a generation ago runs several times that today. The food didn't get better. The ruler you pay with got shorter.
“The dollar is a melting ice cube. The value erodes over time.”

The Revenue Lens
Play with the numbers and watch the ruler do the work.
A ~$5M services business, measured both ways. Same books, two rulers. Held against a ruler that can't be printed, the profit reads as a fixed quantity of the harder measure, not a number that quietly shortens with the dollar. This is measurement, not a prediction.

A year of groceries
Take an ordinary basket of goods and price it against a ruler that can't be printed. Year over year it came out roughly 44% lower. The same things, measured honestly, cost less.
“If the goalposts for money keep moving, how can you measure success?”

Treasury
Play with the numbers and watch the ruler do the work. The harder money is simply the one whose supply cannot be increased.
The ceiling is deliberate. Businesses new to holding a harder reserve asset should start conservatively, so this simulation stops at 20%. Going past it is a strategy conversation rather than a slider — it takes a plan built around your balance sheet, and people who have done it before. Book a working session to start it.
A cash pile held two ways over five years. The reserve that sat in cash kept its number and lost its reach. The slice moved into the harder money, bought once five years back and simply held, reads today as the same fixed measure it always was. That's what the back-test shows a balance sheet like this: not a forecast, the receipts.

Compensation
Play with the numbers and watch the ruler do the work.
A retention bonus paid in two currencies. The plain-cash bonus was spent and forgotten within a quarter. The same dollars, vested month by month into the harder money over the same years, gave the team something that held its measure: a reason to stay that a flat cash line never buys. Illustrative, backward-looking, and no promise about what comes next.

A REAL EXAMPLE
A different kind of money
In 2020, the owner of an American small business handed out a one-off cash bonus to carry his team through the pandemic. About $30,000, straight into checking accounts. A few years later, nobody could tell you what they got. So he changed the money: bitcoin, awarded to anyone who stays five years, on a vesting schedule. That one they remember. They watch it. They stay.
Fiat is forgotten. Bitcoin is remembered.
The same $30,000 of payroll, vested five years into the harder money, measures – today — and the people stayed.
The $30,000 is the calculator's pre-filled scenario ($500/month over five years). The vested figure is a backward-looking measurement over the past five years, from the same rate feed the calculators use.

The market, re-measured
A century of stock-market “growth” looks enormous in dollars. Measure the same index against gold, or against a ruler that can't be printed, and most of the climb was the ruler shrinking underneath it.
Illustrative. Relative shape, each line indexed to 100 at the start.
The long view
Any single year is noise. Pull the camera back across a century and what one dollar can buy points one way. You've watched generic numbers re-measured. the last step is to bring your real ones.

Bring your own numbers
Anyone can book. We start with your real figures in the ruler, then scope what a private version of this instrument looks like on your data — your CRM, your APIs, your own copy of it. Some of that is advisory work. Some of it is a licensed instance for your company. The 30 minutes is how we find out which.
Mental Models, Advisor Services
You can do everything right in your business, but if you're on the wrong unit of account — the wrong denominator — value can erode. Let's fix that together with a hard money, better denominator.
